  • Myanmar independence when the transport and communications sector with the Ministry of Maritime and Civil Aviation , Transportation The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications is  divided into two ministries.
  • In 1961 the two ministries were merged to form the Ministry of Transport and Transport, with the  following divisions being formed:

(A) Board of Railways

(B) Domestic Air Transport Board

(C) Local Water Transport Board

(D) Department of Maritime

(E) Yangon Port Administration Board

(F) Department of Civil Aviation

(G) Meteorological Department

(H) post and telegraph department

(I) Myanmar Five Star Shipping Company

(J) Road and Inland Water Authority

  • Then, in 1972, the state-owned enterprises were replaced by corporations. The Ministry of Communications was also formed as the Ministry of Transport and is composed of 17 departments.
  • (15 March 1972), the School of Marine Science  Department of Transport and Communications  formed.
