Tasks and Competencies of the Ministry
1. Drawing up the health policy and identifying appropriate ways and means to implement it.
2. Strategic planning for the management, direction and delivery of health services consistent with the principle of decentralization in various areas and levels.
3. Updating the national health system according to the foundations of decentralized organization and supporting the management of the health system in the governorates and districts.
4. Preparation of legislation and guidelines regulating health care services in all their forms and levels, and establishing the traditions of providing health services and standards and evidence of availability in the public and private sectors and ensuring their quality and quality.
5. Promote and organize the participation of society and other sectors in supporting, delivering and managing health services and actively participating in planning, implementing and supervising the health needs of the community.
6. Encouraging and supporting research and health studies, developing and motivating research staff, and benefiting from them in improving services and health care, and highlighting research with high scientific value at home and abroad.
7. Planning and development of human resources to ensure the provision of professional and medical cadres specialized in medical, health and administrative to meet the current and future needs of health development and the establishment of institutes and centers for this purpose, as well as benefit from the cooperation of States and organizations and others.
8. Promote the work of women at all levels of health work as well as encourage and expand their enrollment in nursing and midwifery professions and training centers.
9. Care for the health of the child with the provision of medicines and vaccines at reasonable prices.
10. Enhancing the technical, administrative and training capacities of health institutions to achieve performance and skill competencies in health management and services.
11. Contribute to the development of medical and health education curricula in all areas and levels within the classification of jobs and levels of technical and health skills.
12. Planning and implementing health awareness programs in various media and communications.
13. Planning to meet the health needs in cases of epidemics, emergencies and disasters.
14. Establish and manage a national health information system that adopts modern methods and techniques for information management, and benefit from the applications of this system in improving the quality of health care service.
15. Organizing the practice of medical, health, pharmaceutical and other rules related to the establishment and operation of medical, sanitary and pharmaceutical establishments, governmental and private, to ensure the protection of users in accordance with the laws in force.
16. To develop cooperation with States, organizations and bodies specialized in the field of health at the Arab, regional and international levels at all levels and to strengthen international health relations.
17. Coordinate the inputs of States, organizations and bodies supporting the health sector to ensure optimal utilization of these inputs within the framework of national health policies.
18. Classification of medicines and control of their import and classification locally and deal with and advertising.
19. Management and planning of the medical supply system in ways that ensure safe purchasing, transportation, storage, distribution, waste disposal and safe scientific methods, and the development of systems, guidelines and manuals.
20. Coordinate with relevant authorities to strengthen efforts to protect the environment, especially with regard to public health.
21. Follow-up developments and achievements of health, medical and other facts in the international health environment and take appropriate measures to cope with development or face the possibilities.
22. Promote commitment to the ethics of the profession and the laws governing health work.
23. Strengthen coordination among the various governmental and non-governmental sectors concerned, considering that health for all and all.
24. Encourage responsible participation of the private health sector and non-governmental organizations to provide safe and affordable health services and to find mechanisms to ensure the complementarity of public and private services.
25. Modernize the hospital management system and gradually introduce hospital independence in qualified hospitals and work to rehabilitate the rest of the hospitals to accommodate the system.
