The Ministry of Religious Affairs is the ministry responsible for organizing government in the field of religion. The proposed establishment of the Ministry of Religion was first delivered by Mr. Muhammad Yamin in the Great Meeting (Session) of Indonesian Business Development Agency - BPUPKI, July 11, 1945. At the meeting Mr. Muhammad Yamin proposes the need for a special ministry, which is related to religion.
According to Yamin, "It is not enough to guarantee the religion of Islam with the High Court, but it must be realized according to the interests of Islam itself. In short, according to the will of the people, that Islamic affairs relating to the establishment of Islam, wakaf and mosque and broadcasting should be managed by the ministry special, that's what we call the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
