Among the basic components of society stipulated in the permanent constitution of the State of Qatar:

The family is the foundation of society. It is based on religion, morals, and patriotism. The law regulates the means to protect it, strengthen its entity, strengthen its bonds, and preserve motherhood, childhood and old age under them.

Article 10 of Emiri Resolution No. 57 of 2021 defined the functions of the Ministry of Social Development and the Family, which included:

• Propose and implement national strategies, plans and policies related to the care of the family and its members.
• Raising community awareness of the importance of protecting the family and family cohesion.
• Supervising the organization of the charitable works sector.
• Providing social security services to eligible beneficiaries.
• Registration and publication of private associations and institutions and control over them.
• Propose and implement policies related to housing and follow up their implementation.
• Collecting and analyzing data and statistics related to the family and benefiting from them in the relevant programmes, plans and policies, in coordination with the concerned governmental and private agencies.
• Preparing and implementing programs and related services for all categories of beneficiaries of social security services

Social Initiatives

The Ministry of Social Development and Family seeks to enable creativity and innovation and provide opportunities for individuals to be part of positive change in the family and the society. The social initiative is an effective way to serve the family and the society by introducing a useful idea that contributes to change and leaves a positive imprint on the family and the society.
