About

The missions of the Ministry of Commerce are defined in Decree No. 2012/513 of November 12, 2012 on the organization of the Ministry of Commerce.

It is :

  • The development, implementation and evaluation of strategies for the promotion of Cameroonian products;
  • The development of price regulations and the monitoring of their application, in liaison with the administrations concerned;
  • The regulation of supplies of consumer products, in relation with the administrations concerned;
  • The search for new markets for Cameroonian products;
  • The promotion and defense of a quality label for products intended for the local market and for export;
  • The promotion and control of healthy competition;
  • Negotiating and monitoring the implementation of trade agreements in liaison with the Ministry of External Relations;
  • Promoting the competitiveness of Cameroonian products on foreign markets;
  • The application of administrative sanctions in the event of fraud or non-compliance with the standards set, without prejudice to the powers devolved to the other ministerial departments concerned;
  • Organization and supervision of trade fairs;
  • Monitoring of international trade in raw materials and derived products, in liaison with the ministerial departments and organizations concerned;
  • Monitoring the application of import standards, in liaison with the administrations concerned;
  • Inflation monitoring in liaison with the administrations concerned;
  • Monitoring of the conservation and distribution circuits of consumer products;
  • Monitoring the development and application of standards for measurement and quality control instruments in liaison with the administrations concerned;
  • Monitoring of relations with international organizations working in the field of international trade in liaison with the administrations concerned;
  • Monitoring the development or approval of standards for the presentation, conservation and - distribution of consumer products and compliance with these standards by economic operators in liaison with the administrations concerned;
  • Follow-up of trade negotiations with the European Union in liaison with the Ministry of External Relations.

It liaises between the Government and the World Trade Organization (WTO).

It exercises technical supervision over:

  • the Mass Consumption Products Supply Regulation Mission (MIRAP);
  • the Hydrocarbon Price Stabilization Fund (CSPH);
  • the National Office of Cocoa and Coffee (ONCC) .
