About

The Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications was created by Decree Law No. 557, published in the Official Gazette on July 10, 1974. Its main functions are to propose national policies on transport and telecommunications, in accordance with the Government's directives and exercise the direction and control of its implementation; supervise public and private companies that operate means of transportation and communications in the country, and coordinate and promote the development of these activities and control compliance with the relevant laws, regulations and standards. The Ministry is made up of the Undersecretariat for Transport, the Undersecretariat for Telecommunications and the Civil Aeronautical Board (JAC).
