About

The Minor Foundation for Major Challenges is a Norwegian trust that funds communication projects which mitigate anthropogenic climate change. The foundation welcomes applications from all over the world. The board grants support to the projects they believe have the greatest impact on influencing public opinion and increasing political support for cutting green house gas emissions.

History

Having worked as a designer for 45 years, Peter Opsvik has learned that unconventional ideas and inventive solutions can be both useful and inspiring.

Peter found partners that wanted to support his original solutions. He was lucky, because many decision makers prefer well-known and safe solutions.

In 2000 Peter Opsvik’s family-owned company donated one third of its shares to The Minor Foundation for Major Challenges. The foundation supports communication projects that contribute to mitigating human-made global warming.

Driven by Peter’s philosophy, The Minor Foundation is subsidising innovative, experimental and inventive approaches for promoting climate action. They wish to support projects that other donors and organisations find too unconventional.
