Mith Samlanh("Friends" in English) is a local organization working with marginalized children/youth, their families and their communities to build their futures and to develop creative projects that effectively support the children to become in independent and productive members of the community.
Mith Samlanh was established in August 1994 as a non-religious organization working with street children in Phnom Penh. The non-governmental organization (NGO) was established in response to the needs of marginalized children/youth, their families and their communities. The projects of Mith Samlanh aim to facilitate the children's social reintegration into their families, the public school system, the workplace, and their culture.
From its brightly painted center behind Friends the Restaurant, Mith Samlanh offers food, shelter, medical care, training and educational facilities for over 1,800 homeless, vulnerable or abandoned children each day.
Mith Samlanh was established in August 1994 and is a non-religious, non-political organization working with marginalized children/youth, their families and their communities in Phnom Penh and Kampong Cham. Working with marginalized children/youth, their families and their communities, Mith Samlanh's projects are designed to assist the children's social reintegration (reintegration into their families, the public school system, employment, and their culture).
Mith Samlanh has 235 staff (100 female) including social workers, teachers, trainers, doctors, house parents, cooks, cleaners and a small administrative team.
Mith Samlanh was the first project established by Friends-International. In 1999, Mith Samlanh became a local Cambodian NGO, and is now run entirely by Cambodian staff. Friends-International continues to provide us with technical support and advice.
