Moya Trust (Moya Centre)

The Moya Trust is a CBO founded in 1999 as a primary health care centre for the peri-urban  Lobamba Lomdzala constituency. The Trust is` governed by a Board of Trustees and works closely with the local traditional and political leadership. At the onset, the Moya Trust focused on trench gardening to assist in food security, health and wellness. In 2005 the focus of the Trust shifted to education and Psycho-Social Support of school going children and youth through the Moya Centre due to the selection of Mahlanya Community School by Unicef in a pilot study for the Kingdom of Swaziland to preview the introduction of Free Primary Education. The Moya Centre is now an organization that delivers a comprehensive spectrum of services for OVCY, including; children from migrant workers, children born out of wedlock, children from child headed families, children from elderly headed families, and disabled children. They work within a development framework that seeks to achieve sustainable, long-term social integration and community empowerment. The vehicle to reach this goal is the mainstreaming of Psycho-Social Support. The full staff of Moya’s 7 partner schools has been introduced to Positive Discipline and Restorative Justice. Moya’s 38 caregivers also practice and advocate the use of PD and RJ in their respective homesteads, communities, and churches.
