The Chamber of Commerce of Mozambique (CCM) is an institution that operates in the area of commerce, it was founded on March 30, 1980, by a group of six companies, mostly state-owned. Since its creation, the Chamber has evolved, assuming, in each phase, its own characteristics.
It should be noted that throughout this period, the hegemonic role of the State in the economy predominated, which is why CCM's performance was conditioned. Meanwhile, CCM acted as the arm of the government, as a driving force behind the development and dynamization of commercial activities in the country.
Therefore, its vitality and sustainability were, totally or partially, ensured by the government, through the Ministry of Foreign Trade, in the form of funding for specific activities, such as the participation of national companies in exhibitions and trade fairs abroad, framed by the CCM .
Along the way, the Chamber registered more than 900 economic agents in its database.
Throughout its existence (42 years), the CCM established representation nuclei in the form of delegations in the provinces of the country.
