Mundo Sano Foundation is a non-profit organization involved in the research and prevention of transmissible diseases such as Chagas disease, dengue, or hantaviruses diseases. Established 1993, the foundation develops and manages intervention models based on technology transfer in order to share approaches or models with the affected communities. This is for the purpose of integrating scientific activities to suit the needs of the most socially vulnerable endemic areas.
Currently chaired by Dr. Silvia Gold, the foundation aims to achieve projects that tend to achieve assessable, sustainable and tangible results which can be applied to different situations - both domestic and international. Mundo Sando is financed by private companies concerned in the scientific knowledge to improve the living condition of affected areas. Mainly, the private companies are led by entrepreneurs Hugo Sigman and Luis Alberto Gold.
The Foundation will promote scientific research as a means for changing reality. Its mission is to encourage research activities that lead to equal health access to the populations that are exposed to diseases which can be prevented, and to develop strategic policies leading to changes in the overall communities' quality of life.
