About

Myanmar Business Coalition on AIDS MBCA is a not for profit organization organized and mandated by a group of business leaders. It is an organization that assembles community conscious business leaders to fulfil its corporate social responsibilities. MBCA delivers its mandate through the following activities:

  • Workplace education on health issues
  • Relief and reconstruction for community that need assistance
  • Advocacy for national health and rural community development needs
  • Livelihood assistance for rural development
  • Design and implement specific programs to fulfil different community needs.

 

Since 2003, MBCA has evolved to be a leader that is creative in assisting various UN agencies, INGO and NGO to reach needed communities. Support civil society and sharing experiences for sustainability in financial and program development. MBCA is proud to co-ordinate and collaborate between businesses, government agencies, and rural community organization.

 

A natural catalyst for the private-public partnership

MBCA actively promotes and assists in organizing business coalition in cities within Myanmar. Business Coalition organizations are “owned” and managed by a group of business owners and its responsibilities include governing the organization as a business for financial sustainability, sharing and extending humanitarian values for the communities they serve.

 

MBCA has the support of Business and is guided by the Business in management. Therefore, it has the practicality of the Business and still has humanitarian values and heart. MBCA understands the needs of the people they serve.

 

Myanmar Business Coalition on AIDs, (“MBCA”) mobilizes the private sector in Myanmar to be involved in major issues affecting the private sector’s most valuable asset…human resources. These major issues include: non-discrimination at workplaces on HIV/AIDS, basic health education with a particular focus on HIV/AIDS, prevention of malaria and rural economic and social development. Since May 2008, MBCA has been involved in relief and reconstruction of villages and schools devastated by Cyclone Nargis.

 

MBCA’s main function is to be community need-sensitive. Nationwide, MBCA currently has 5 well-established, independent business coalition offices in operation in the cities of Yangon, Pyay, Pakkoku, Lashio and Muse. Originally founded to support and sustain the HIV/AIDS programs, the business coalitions are broadening their endeavors to work alongside businesses in meeting their social responsibility to the local community.
