About

The  Myrna Mack Foundation, created in 1993, works on the preparation of studies and proposals aimed at promoting the fight against impunity, the construction of the rule of law in Guatemala, and the consolidation of peace and democracy.

They are inspired by the life example of the social anthropologist  Myrna Elizabeth Mack Chang, who in 1990 was the victim of a clandestine intelligence operation carried out by the State of Guatemala, in an effort to obstruct her academic discoveries on the subject of internal displacement.

The search for justice and the effort made so that this murder did not go unpunished, left them learnings that they share with Guatemalan society, in order to stimulate responsible participation in processes that lead to achieving a better social coexistence.

The mission:

"Build a critical citizenship that seeks the Democratic State of Law based on citizen participation, security and justice."

The FMM helps the population exercise its citizenship with a public and political vocation, developing its surveillance, proposal and advocacy capacities.
