NYP International (NYPi) is the international arm of Nanyang Polytechnic. NYPi seeks to actively enhance the global presence of Nanyang Polytechnic. They strengthen the existing international partnerships and collaborations to create more opportunities for the students and staff of NYP.
As a platform to share the NYP Teaching Factory concept and its related concepts, its capabilities as well as its training and education services with institutions in the region, NYPi’s mission is to develop NYP into a Global Polytechnic of distinction. This is in line with the vision set forth by the honourable Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam, then Singapore's Minister for Education, in his speech delivered at the dinner on 30 March 2007 to celebrate NYP's 15th Anniversary:
".... I hope to see NYP developing into a Global Polytechnic as it grows from strength to strength!"
At NYPi, they conduct training for technical and vocational educators from foreign countries. Through the training programmes, participants learn more about the well established pedagogic and management concepts of NYP, in particular, the NYP Teaching Factory concept, which integrates academic studies with industry projects within the polytechnic. Industry projects are an integral part of the teaching and learning environment which provide students with real-life working experience and serves as a platform for developing staff capabilities.
NYPi has the privilege of being partners with various organizations to deliver quality training programmes. Some of these esteemed partners are GIZ (German Agency for Technical Cooperation), International Enterprise (IE) Singapore, Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Singapore Cooperation Enterprise, Temasek Foundation and the World Bank.
With a decade of active sharing of the education concepts through the training programmes conducted for participants from around the world. NYP concepts have been widely studied by technical and vocational education training colleges from all over the world. They have shared with people across mang provinces in China, such as Jiangsu, Guangdong, Liaoning and Shandong; they have also shared with many Asian countries such as the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Mongolia, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and India; including participants from countries further away such as Kazakhstan and Oman.
