About

Narita International Airport Corporation (NAA) is the company responsible for the management of Narita International Airport in Japan. It is the successor to the New Tokyo International Airport Authority which was established on 30 July 1966. NAA was privatized on April 1, 2004 and is based in Narita City, Japan 

The company engages in the management of aviation navigation facilities; construction and management of passenger and cargo handling and aviation fuel facilities, and offices; and prevention of aircraft noise disturbance around the airport. It also specializes in the acquisition of land, construction, management, and land transfer for buffer zone development; providing subsidies for soundproofing works; and offering compensation for loss sustained by relocation and purchase of land.

NAA’s Company Objectives

The company undertakes the following activities for the express purpose of providing greater convenience to air transport users by practicing efficiency in the establishment and management of Narita International Airport, and thereby contributing to the overall development of air transport and enhancing international competitiveness of Japan's industry and tourism.

 

  • Establishment and management of Narita International Airport. 
  • Management of aviation navigation facilities to ensure safe aircraft arrivals and departures at Narita International Airport. 
  • Construction and management of passenger and cargo handling facilities, aviation fuel facilities and other aviation navigation facilities to ensure the functional integrity of Narita International Airport. 
  • Construction and management of offices, shops and other facilities deemed appropriate for construction within the airport premises for the convenience of Narita International Airport users. 
  • Prevention of aircraft noise disturbance around Narita International Airport and activities as listed below related to the provision of compensation for loss.
     
    • Acquisition of land, construction, management and land transfer for buffer zone development.
    • Subsidies for soundproofing works.
    • Compensation for loss sustained by relocation and purchase of land.
    • Other activities not described in sub-paragraphs 1 to 3 associated with the prevention of aircraft noise disturbance and the provision of compensation for loss. 

 

  • The following activities associated with improving the living environment around Narita International Airport, other than those listed above.
     
    • Activities deemed necessary to alleviate the effects on the living environment around the airport from aircraft for the benefit of personnel who contribute to the function of the airport.
    • Provision of grants to regional authorities for preventing disturbance from aircraft noise around the airport and for improving the local environment.
    • Activities other than those described in sub-paragraphs 1 and 2 for improving the living environment around Narita International Airport.

 

  • All activities associated with those described in the preceding paragraphs. 
  • Activities other than those described in the preceding paragraphs that are required in order to achieve those objectives.
