The National Bank of Georgia is the Central Bank of Georgia and its status is defined by the Constitution of the country. The main goal of the National Bank is to ensure price stability. 

The first central bank in Georgia was established in 1919. It has existed in its current form as the Central Bank of independent Georgia since 1991. 

According to the Constitution of Georgia, the National Bank of Georgia is independent in its activities and the representatives of the legislative and executive authorities have no right to interfere in its activities. The National Bank, as the central bank's rights and obligations, the rules of operation and guarantee of independence is determined by the " National Bank " of the organic law.
