About

 Komnas HAM is an independent institution whose position is at the same level as other state institutions whose function is to carry out human rights studies, research, counseling, monitoring and mediation. This is stated in Article 1 of Law Number 39 of 1999 concerning Human Rights.

Objective

In Article 75 of the Law on Human Rights, it is stated that the objectives of Komnas HAM are:

  • Develop conducive conditions for the implementation of human rights in accordance with Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, and the UN Charter as well as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
  • Increase the protection and enforcement of human rights for the development of the Indonesian human person as a whole and the ability to participate in various areas of life.
