The core mission of National Council for Science and Technology (NCST) is to provide strategic advices and recommendations to the Government on all matters relating to policies, legislation and regulation in the fields of science, technology, research and innovation and monitor the implementation of such policies and legislation. It also mandated to mobilise the National Research and Innovation Fund to facilitate Researchers and Innovators
National Council for Science and Technology (NCST) has the following mandate:
- to advise the Government on policies, legislation and regulation in the fields of science, technology, research and innovation and monitor the implementation of such policies and legislation;
- to advise the Government on setting national priorities in the fields of science, innovation, technology, research and development as well as modalities for financing such activities;
- to identify and promote new sectors of activities that require special means and measures for innovation through technology and research essential for the country;
- to carry out an analysis of the nature and efficient use of national resources and infrastructures in order to support science and technology as well as their innovative use in a sustainable manner;
- to regulate science, technology innovation and research;
- to mobilize funds and manage the National Research and Innovation Fund;
- to promote science and technology community outreach activities;
- to prepare and disseminate annual report on the status of science and technology;
- to cooperate and collaborate with other advanced regional and international institutions of excellence with similar mission.
