MISSION

  1. Protecting the nation from the threat of disaster by building a culture of disaster risk reduction and disaster preparedness is an integrated part of national development;
  2. Building a disaster emergency management system quickly, effectively and efficiently;
  3. Carrying out post-disaster recovery of regions and communities through better rehabilitation and reconstruction that is coordinated and has a disaster risk reduction dimension;
  4. Organizing support and management of disaster management logistics and equipment;
  5. Organizing disaster management transparently with the principles of good governance. 

The history of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) was formed inseparable from developments in disaster management during the independence period to natural disasters in the form of devastating earthquakes in the Indian Ocean in the 20th century. Meanwhile, these developments were greatly influenced by the context of the situation, scope and paradigm of disaster management.

Seeing the current reality, various disasters that are motivated by geographical, geological, hydrological and demographic conditions encourage Indonesia to develop a vision to build the nation's resilience in facing disasters.
