The state-owned joint stock company for performing energy activities NATIONAL ENERGY RESOURCES Skopje (abbreviated name NER AD Skopje) was established in 2010 with the aim of realizing the project for the construction and development of the national gas pipeline system in the Republic of North Macedonia. With the implementation of the project, according to the prepared documentation, it is foreseen to build main gas pipelines for the transmission of natural gas in a length of about 800 km, as well as interconnections with the transmission systems of neighboring countries or international transit gas pipelines.

In the past period, NER AD Skopje undertook preparatory activities for starting the construction, after which the construction of the main gas pipeline Section "Klecovce - Block station 5" began, and then the construction of the Section "Block station 5 - Negotino", Section "Skopje- Tetovo-Gostivar" and Section "Negotino (Kavadarci) - Bitola".

The construction of the main gas pipeline sections for natural gas transmission and the development of the natural gas transmission system in the Republic of North Macedonia aims to enable:

• availability of natural gas to the majority of consumers in the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia in regions where it was not available until now,
• increase in natural gas consumption,
• further integration of the national gas pipeline system for the transmission of natural gas in the Republic of North Macedonia in the international flows of natural gas.

In addition to activities for the development of the gas pipeline infrastructure in the Republic of North Macedonia, it also undertakes activities in various projects for the construction of interconnecting lines for natural gas transmission and connection with neighboring countries and international transit pipelines.
