National Forest Conservation Program for Climate Change Mitigation (Peru) (PNCBMCC)
They are the National Forest Conservation Program for Climate Change Mitigation (PNCBMCC) of the Ministry of Environment (MINAM).
They were created in 2010, through Supreme Decree No. 008-2010-MINAM, in compliance with our commitments as a country to contribute to global efforts against global warming.
Contribute to forest conservation, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation and forest degradation and promote the improvement of the quality of life of local people.
Conserve 54 million hectares of tropical forests as a contribution to climate change mitigation and the promotion of sustainable development.
As specific objectives they:
Identify and map areas for forest conservation.
Promote the development of sustainable productive systems, based on forests, that generate income in favor of local populations.
Strengthen the forest conservation capacities of regional and local governments, members of rural and native communities, among others.See more
