National Korean American Service and Education Consortium (NAKASEC)
About

Founded in 1994, the National Korean American Service & Education Consortium’s (NAKASEC) mission is to organize Korean and Asian Americans to achieve social, economic, and racial justice. They imagine a future in which low- and middle-income, immigrant, people of color, and marginalized communities are working together as the change-makers. They have transformed cultures, power relationships, systems, and policies in the United States, all in a broader global context.

NAKASEC remains strongly connected with and informed by the local groups that originally formed them. Their affiliates are: MinKwon Center for Community Action (New York), Woori Center (Pennsylvania), NAKASEC VA (Virginia), HANA Center (Illinois) and Korean Resource Center (California). They also have a new chapter forming in Houston, TX. Their Affiliates serve as their channel to learn more about the issues impacting our community members at the grassroots level. This local to national channel directly informs NAKASEC’s national campaigns, policy agenda, and other projects.
