The National Statistics Office (ONE) was created on November 1, 1935, with the main objective of collecting, reviewing, preparing and publishing national statistics related to the economic, agricultural, commercial, industrial, financial, environmental and social activities of the population.
From the beginning, the main task was to produce national population and housing censuses, established every ten years.
As of August 2004, the ONE established itself to strengthen its institutional capacity for the production and dissemination of official statistical information, with unmistakable characteristics of quality and timeliness.
Currently, the main responsibilities of the ONE include carrying out national censuses and surveys; the production of statistics on economic, demographic, social, cultural and agricultural matters; the Map Database; research design and development; the coordination of the National Statistical System (SEN) and the implementation of the National Statistical Plan (PEN).
The ONE has a large production of statistical information of a national scope, segregated at different territorial levels, with printed, digital and online publications; In addition, the generation of numerous Databases of incalculable value, in order to contribute in the case of executing decisions in governmental, non-governmental, private institutions, civil society and in international cooperation and financing organizations.
