National River Care Fund (NRCF) is established to support and fund river care initiatives by the local communities, organisations and learning institutions to pursue their own river conservation activities. 

The NRCF programme runs cycle by cycle with each cycle, around 6 - 9 organisations are selected with grant up to RM5,000 to conduct their own river care initiatives with guidance from GEC.

Their goals are to establish and encourage a river care civil society that has the capability to contribute and demonstrate the best management practices of river care in Malaysia as well as to support establishment and sustainability of community based water and river care programme in Malaysia.
