Water resources are developed and managed through the Comprehensive Water Management (IWRM) method in the country in such a way that sustainable economic and social development is achieved through sustainable use of water resources, improved living standards, reduced poverty and safe water for present generations.

Strategic (long-term) goals of the National Water Administration

Improving the living conditions of present and future generations of the country through the development and sustainable management of water resources with the participation of all stakeholders to achieve the following goals:

  • - Increase access to the agricultural sector and increase household food security through water security
  • - Strengthen immunity against the adverse effects of droughts and floods
  • - Water supply for hydropower generation and the country's emerging industrial sector
  • - Help reduce poverty, develop the private sector and support it to attract high investment in the water sector

  • - Leadership of the country's water sector
  • - General policies and determination of strategic axes
  • - Develop rules and regulations on water resources management
  • - Design and implement national programs for the development and management of water resource
