Natural Energy Development Co., Ltd. was founded in year 2008 as a power company in Thailand with its aim to develop renewable energy projects in the region. The company owns and operates two solar power plants with the total installed capacity of 63 MW. The 55MW Lopburi Solar power plant and the 8MW Wang Ploeng Solar power plant have started commercial operation and delivered clean electricity to the grid since 2011 and 2013 respectively.
Generation The solar power plant is located in Khok Samrong District of Lopburi Province in Thailand and is one of the world’s largest thin-film solar power plants with more than 640,000 thin-film solar photovoltaic panels installed on 1,400 rais (183 hectares) of land.
The 55MW Lopburi Solar power plant sells its net electricity output generated to Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) under a non-firm PPA for Small Power Producer scheme (SPP). Meanwhile, the 8MW Wang Ploeng Solar power plant sells its net electricity output generated to Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) under a non-firm PPA for Very Small Power Producer scheme (VSPP). By generating the clean electricity from both solar power plants, it’s expected to reduce 1.5 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions over its 25-year lifespan.
