“Periodistas de a Pie” is an organization made up mostly of active female journalists, which seeks to raise the quality of journalism in Mexico through training and the exchange of investigative techniques, experiences, reporting strategies, narrative styles, and innovative forms boarding. The organization was founded in 2007 with the idea of ​​seeking a social dimension in any type of news event and putting a human face on the news; approach information from a human rights perspective; explain why what happens to you, through the complaint, the exposition of causes and the proposal of solutions.

The working model of the Red de Periodistas de a Pie encourages collaborative work. It is an unprecedented model in the country, which links training and work in journalists' networks with the production of research with high social impact, from a human rights perspective and understanding information as a tool for decision-making, an essential requirement in every democratic society.

They are committed to collaborative and multidisciplinary work, as well as innovative narrative tools that explore different platforms (multimedia, text, audio, video, graphics, animations, infographics, gifs). Alliances are another central element of their work. They work with various civil society organizations and a wide network of more than 80 collaborators in different states; In addition, they have publication agreements with national and international media for the joint publication of research. They also help strengthen independent platforms of local journalists.

The NETWORK's purposes and tasks are:

  • - Expand and consolidate training work, through the organization of courses, workshops, seminars and forums with specialists (journalists, researchers, civil organizations, writers, analysts), to strengthen professionalization and training in investigative journalism, the new trends of journalism, its tools and resources, transparency, access and right to information, as well as in the priority issues of the public agenda, under the premise that they meet the needs and expectations of journalists in each of their areas of interest .
  • - Promote the use of new technologies, tools and alternative media for journalism, the dissemination of content, the strengthening of links with various social sectors and the exchange of information, references, experiences, concerns and queries
  • - Prepare manuals and reference content and support for coverage on specific topics, safety of journalists, and resources and advice for freelance
  • - Create links with journalists' organizations, national and international, for the exchange of information and experiences, and their replication in particular situations. Likewise, strengthen ties and collaboration with civil society organizations on issues that fall within the competence of this network for the exchange of information and advisory and consultation resources.
  • - Create information bases, catalogs and directories of consultation sources by specialty for the open use of journalists.
