We work to stimulate economic growth for New Zealand by helping to boost export earnings, strengthen regional economies, and deliver economic development assistance to industries and individual businesses.
We work to promote New Zealand business in export markets around the world. We use our knowledge and contacts worldwide to connect New Zealand businesses with trade and investment opportunities internationally.
Helping to increase exports is important because businesses that grow their operations internationally not only improve their own profitability and long-term sustainability, they also make a direct and valuable contribution to the New Zealand economy and society.

We work with businesses
Our services and programmes include advice, training, mentoring, funding, and business and market development assistance. They can be used by businesses of all sizes, from start-ups to established groups of exporters.
Some services are provided directly by NZTE and others are provided through external organisations funded by NZTE.
We work globally
Through our network of international offices, we help businesses grow by building alliances and developing strategic commercial relationships overseas. These alliances can provide access to international distribution networks; new markets, skills and technology; and investment capital.
Staff based in our international offices provide hands-on assistance to New Zealand exporters. Our unique blend of government and business skills enables us to open doors to influential contacts in the public and private sectors. We promote New Zealand and its refreshing new perspective on business to potential customers and investors, via international marketing campaigns that support the New Zealand brand.
We also provide buyers, importers and distributors in international markets with information about what New Zealand business has to offer, to help source quality New Zealand products and services or identify investment opportunities.
We work with regions
Healthy regions are vital for a healthy economy. NZTE has a network of offices within New Zealand and works closely with local government, economic development agencies and other regional allies to grow the regional economic base, to identify and address barriers to growth, and to stimulate and develop new business opportunities.
Our regional strategy fund, which will close on 30 June 2010, provides support for regions to develop and implement regional economic development strategies. These strategies help regions develop clear economic development actions and identify the partners they need to work with to achieve each of these.
We support investment
Investment is an important aspect of funding economic development and growth. NZTE promotes international investment in New Zealand, providing market information for investors and working with them to support long term success, and assists New Zealand businesses to expand and grow their businesses offshore.
We support New Zealand enterprise
NZTE encourages New Zealanders to value entrepreneurship and business success and to better understand the connection between economic growth and the living standards to which New Zealanders aspire.
