About

The Ivorian Observatory for Human Rights (OIDH) was created in August 2014 by a team of young human rights activists. This team decided to contribute in order to solve the problems of the Ivorian Society from the base. The OIDH has its headquarters in Abidjan.

Mission

Protect, defend and promote human rights through training, information and public awareness and have a definite impact on the authorities of Côte d'Ivoire and elsewhere in the world

Goals

The main objectives of the OIDH are to:

  • Contribute to the promotion and protection of human rights in Côte d'Ivoire;
  • Contribute to raising awareness and building the capacity of citizens, institutions of the Republic and decentralized communities, on human rights issues with a view to preventing any political or social violence;
  • Promote the exchange of experiences and good practices in matters of Human Rights with other organizations in Africa and in the world;
  • Participate actively and effectively in the work of international treaty bodies and international courts related to Human Rights in Côte d'Ivoire;
  • Help citizens take ownership of the principles and ideals of Human Rights;
  • Promote the culture of peace and civic education of populations in order to prevent social violence;
  • Conduct studies, multiply publications and encourage public debates and frameworks for exchanges on Human Rights in Côte d'Ivoire;
  • Establish partnerships with any institution, national or international organization involved in the field of governance in general and human rights and democracy in particular;
