About

The Black Women's Institute (ODARA) is a black feminist organization that seeks to overcome discrimination and prejudice on a personal and collective level, as well as to seek alternatives that provide the socio-political and economic inclusion of black women and their families in society.

The Institute emerged from the specificities of being a black woman, which in Brazilian society is structured by racism and sexism and all forms of oppression, causing a number of disadvantages, such as: lower salary, less access to high levels of education, celibacy involuntarily, greater responsibility in family support, higher rates of unemployment and misery, when articulated, will exacerbate the exclusion of these women.

They are a black feminist organization that seeks to overcome on a personal and collective level discrimination and prejudice, as well as seek alternatives that provide the autonomy and social-political inclusion of black women in society. The Institute emerged from the specificities of being a woman and a black woman in a society structured by racism, sexism and other forms of oppression.
