Olabi is a social organization that seeks to democratize the production of technology in the construction of a more diverse and just world. The headquarters, in Rio de Janeiro, is a makerspace, that is, a space to do. An environment where error is allowed, where people can contact and develop projects related to electronics, robotics, permaculture, artificial intelligence, digital manufacturing, crafts, carpentry, design, among other techniques.
Olabi elaborates methodologies and contents that spread throughout the country and around the world. In 3 years of operation, they have served more than 20 thousand people. Only in the last two years have they been in more than 20 countries, from all five continents. Olabi is part of the global network of Fablabs, established at MIT, as well as Germany-based Global Innovation Gathering. Olabi is in constant dialogue with diverse agents of civil society, the public sector, the private sector and the common citizen.
In a network, with these global exchanges, they work to create projects, programs and policies that understand that today innovations can also be produced outside large research centers, large companies and technology parks.
