ONGAWA, Engineering for Human Development is an NGO (Non Governmental Organization) whose mission is to put technology at the service of human development, to build a more just and fraternal society.
The organization has a large number of employees bound by a common project of social change which calls for the abolition of poverty and building a more just world.
In 1990, a group of students and professors from the Polytechnic University of Madrid created the Spanish Association of Engineers Without Borders to put the acquired knowledge to the service of the most needed countries. Since then, there have been several changes in the corporate name of the Association. In 2011 it was called ONGAWA, Engineering for Human Development.
In all these years, ONGAWA has evolved considerably, from being a student organization to an NGO Development of medium size in the Spanish context, differentiated and specialized.
Currently, ONGAWA is defined as a connection space, and meeting participation, networking, with a focus on rights in universal access to basic services, and centered in the field of technology for human development.
In Ongawa, we have the participation of over 1300 members and nearly 400 volunteers, aided by a team of 140 people hired and through partnerships, networks and platforms from which we belong, we work with that common goal.
