Open Joint Stock Holding Company “Barki Tochik”  is the state national energy company of the Republic of Tajikistan, located in the capital of the Republic of Tajikistan , Dushanbe .   

Until August 27, 1991, the assets of the Company were under the jurisdiction of the USSR . In August 1991, they were transferred to the jurisdiction of the Republic of Tajikistan (RT). The company and all its assets are the national property of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The main goal of Barki Tojik OAHK is the production, transportation, transmission, distribution and sale of electricity and heat mainly on the local market in Tajikistan. Deals with the operation of power plants and networks of the republic, generation, transmission, distribution and sale of electrical and thermal energy in the state.

OAHK Barki Tochik is a holder of a block of shares of joint-stock companies operating in the field of electric power industry transferred by the government of Tajikistan, and also exercises the right to own, use, dispose of property of enterprises and institutions transferred to its management.

The structure of OAHK "Barki Tojik" includes 26 enterprises in which more than 12 thousand people work.

The Barki Tochik OAHK is equipped with 44 turbines in five hydroelectric power stations and three heat and power plants. The company also owns more than 60,000 km (2014 - 6,0166 km) of power lines, the power distribution capacity of which varies from 0.4 kilovolts to 500 kilovolts, the total ability to generate electricity is 3,498 MW.

Electricity generation in 2007 reached 17340.34 million kWh, 2008 - 14808.52 million kWh, 2009. - 15910.448 mln.kWh, 2010 - 16246.123 mln.kW.h., 2011. - 16061.871 mln.kW.h., 2012 - 16790.294 mln.kW.h., 2013 - 16926.975 mln.kW.h., 2014 - 16260.07 mln.kW. h Heat generation in 2007 reached 771.07 thousand Gcal, 2008 - 492.430 thousand Gcal, 2009 - 245.661 thousand Gcal, 2010 - 58.713 thousand Gcal, 2011 - 97.040 thousand Gcal, 2012 - 116.099 thousand Gcal, 2013 - 127.859 thousand Gcal, 2014 - 100.363 thousand Gcal.
