Optac Tactical Equipment Ltd.
Optac Tactical Equipment Ltd.
About

Optac was established in 2011, out of a need to provide the right equipment to front line operators in all of Canada's emergency services. They found it frustrating to see emergency personnel end up with the wrong equipment and sub-standard service, simply to satisfy a hunger for sales.

At Optac, they don't operate that way. They understand the equipment you rely on has to work - every time. Sometimes, there are lives at stake.

With over 18 years of experience, training, and listening to what you have to say, they have a keen understanding of the work you do, and of the risks you take to protect others. They strive to provide you with the right answers, the right equipment, and the best service they can possibly give. If they don’t know the answer, they'll find out. If they can't provide the equipment you need, they’ll refer you to someone who can.

Maxa Beam Searchlights

Optac Tactical is the Exclusive Canadian Distributor for Maxa Beam Handheld Searchlights, manufactured by Peak Beam Systems Inc.  The Maxa Beam is a 12 million candlepower searchlight  - the most powerful handheld searchlight in the world.  Originally designed for the US Military, the Maxa Beam and its technology has been the standard in handheld searchlights for over 25 years.  Used by all military branches in the USA, as well as federal and state Law Enforcement and Search and Rescue organizations, the Maxa Beam also became the standard worldwide.  In Canada, the Maxa Beam has been deployed by the Military, Coast Guard, and many Law Enforcement and Search & Rescue organizations for over 20 years.  The Maxa Beam has endless applications, and can also be used in mounted (weapon, vehicle, marine craft), remote-controlled, and coupled applications - such as being coupled with the LRAD system or with night vision equipment to allow for incredible range.

LRAD

LRAD is the best option to deter crime before there are deadly consequences. In many cases, the deployment of LRAD stops serious crime before any other options have to be considered, much less deployed. Long range communications will often change a possible threat's behaviour by removing the element of surprise. LRAD utilizes long range communications which allows personnel to de-escalate a potentially hazardous situation from a safe stand-off distance. Imagine being able to de-escalate a potentially hazardous situation by simply using sound!

LRAD is the only way to communicate effectively in life saving operations, or in natural disasters. LRAD can be used at a distance (from a ship or helicopter for example) to communicate with victims during a rescue. They can hear you loud and clear, providing them reassurance, or providing them with direction to help the rescue effort proceed quickly.

In the case of a natural disaster, LRAD can communicate to hundreds of people at a time, helping to expedite evacuation, provide clear direction and instructions, and simply reassure people that help is on the way.

Optac is a Canadian Distributor for LRAD in the Law Enforcement, Security, and SAR markets.

Eotech Weapon Sights

The Holographic Weapon Sight is a revolutionary technology. These sights maximize the operator's peripheral vision, which guarantees faster target acquisition and gives the operator greater control in the engagement zone.

FLIR Portable Vision

FLIR’s portable solutions are lightweight, powerful, and easy to use, making you more capable and more agile on the front line than ever before. FLIR’s Recon® series of thermal binoculars and monoculars can combine longer range imaging with enhanced features like hot-swappable batteries, laser rangefinders, a digital magnetic compass, and up to 10x optical zoom for target identification at greater standoff range.

Thermal imaging covers an amazing array of applications. From handheld observation, to weapon mounted, aircraft, or vehicle mounted - there is an application almost everywhere for thermal imaging. It can be used to track down a suspect from land, sea, or air, or to find a person lost on a mountain. It can detect fire hazards, or find a void in a wall where something may be hidden.

One major advantage to thermal: it is not limited by lighting conditions. It can be used day or night. It picks up many of the things that would normally be missed by the naked eye or by night vision.
