Orb Energy (“Orb”) is a leading provider of solar energy solutions. Orb's main activities are product design, manufacturing, sales, installation and servicing of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for reliable power, solar thermal systems for hot water, as well as lights and appliances for greater energy efficiency.

 

Orb launched in India in October 2006 and is in the process of building a nation-wide network of branches to support customers and ensure quality of delivery, installation, and after-sales service. More than 170 branches have been established in India. Orb directly and indirectly employs more than 700 personnel and has installed approximately 75,000 systems. In recognition of its unique retail approach to the solar market, Orb was a recipient of the Zayed Future Energy Prize in 2012. 

 

Orb provides solar energy systems to both residential and commercial customers looking for a better alternative to an unreliable electricity grid, and who want to save money. Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems have mass appeal in areas with regular brown-outs, particularly in rural areas. Solar thermal systems are extremely cost effective, with 1-2 year payback in Kenya for commercial and residential customers in both urban and rural areas. 

 

Orb is unique in establishing a dedicated branch network to serve local solar markets. All branches are run according to the same standard operating procedures, so as to ensure high levels of service. In addition to the supply of solar products, Orb arranges for installation and after-sales service, and facilitates easy finance for its customers through more than 10 partner banks. 

 

In parallel with its branch network, Orb has established an in-house Projects division that designs, sells, and installs components and systems for builders and developers, corporations and a variety of institutions. Orb exports its systems and components know-how to other high potential emerging markets in Africa and Asia.
