Transforming The Way We Live With Water

The Orbital Systems vision is to make us all smarter with how we treat our planet’s most precious resource in their daily lives.

Right now, depending on where we live, our personal water consumption is around 200 litres per day. Their mission is to radically lower that amount, without compromising our life quality. They start with the shower, because that’s where most of our daily personal water consumption gets wasted. Soon, they will apply their water saving technology to more products.

Lessons From Space

The Orbital Systems recirculating shower concept was a result of founder Mehrdad Mahdjoubi’s work on the Mars Mission project with NASA. His job was to find ways to make limited water supplies last the length of an off-world mission. It led to innovative water purification technology that could be applied with even more potential right here on Earth. Among the company’s and Mehrdad’s many recognitions are a place on Forbes Magazine’s 30 under 30 list, the WWF Climate Solver 2016, the GOOD DESIGN Award 2015, and finalist for the European Inventor Award 2018 (European Patent Office).

Rethinking The Traditional Shower

Water is one of our most precious natural resources. But it isn’t treated that way. Traditional showers deliver up to 10 liters (2.5 gallons) of water per minute—10 minutes, 100 litres (25 gallons). Most of it barely touches us, letting litre after litre of relatively clean, heated water simply disappear down the drain. Oas prevents that waste by recirculating a few litres of continuously purified and re-heated water in a closed loop. It turns those few litres into all the water you want, yet uses up to 90% less water and 80% less energy to heat it. With Oas, you get to enjoy a spa-like shower experience, for as long as you like, while leading the way forward in water sustainability.
