The Overseas China Education Foundation, formerly known as the SOS China Education Fund, was officially registered as a non-profit organization in California in October 1992. It was re-registered in Texas in April 2001 and renamed the Overseas Chinese Education Foundation. In 2003, the United States Federal Taxation Office determined that it complies with Article 501 (c) (3), and donors can enjoy tax exemption for donations to the Overseas Chinese Education Foundation (Federal Tax Number 76-0680540)
