Objectives of PEDO

The main objectives of the Power Policy are:

1.    To provide least cost power generation
2.   To encourage private sector investment through full cost recovery and attractive rates of return
3.    To ensure fast track and transparent development of power projects
4.    To encourage and ensure participation of investors in the development and implementation of hydro power  projects
5.    To ensure participation, development and welfare of all stakeholders
6.    To provide green energy

i. Short Term Goals

1.    Vibrant PEDO
2.    Restructuring
3.    Review of Policies & Procedures/ guidelines
4.    PEDO Act
5.    Procurement guidelines ( KPPRA)
6.    Commercial Operations Public : 110MW
7.    Take private power projects to construction phase: 1000 MW 
8.    Thermal Power to construction within 2 years: 400 MW 
9.    Public Sector projects to construction phase: 1100 MW 
10.    MHPs in operation 50 MW; solarisation of schools & BHUs

ii. Long Term Goals

To develop;

1.    Projects of 2600 MW ( on grid)
2.    MMHPPs/ Solar of 150 MW ( off grid)
3.    Completion of Feasibility Study for sites – 3000MW
