Special Administrative Unit called National Natural Parks of Colombia, of the national order, without legal personality, with administrative and financial autonomy, with jurisdiction throughout the national territory, under the terms of article 67 of Law 489 of 1998. The entity is in charge of the administration and management of the System of National Natural Parks and the coordination of the National System of Protected Areas.

With the State restructuring process in 2011, through  Decree No. 3572 of 2011, National Natural Parks of Colombia were created as a Special Administrative Unit.

Mission:

Administer and Manage the areas in charge of National Natural Parks and coordinate the National System of Protected Areas (SINAP) of Colombia, promoting the participation of various actors, with the purpose of conserving the biological and cultural diversity of the country, contributing to sustainable development and a healthy environment.

Vision:

National Natural Parks of Colombia will be recognized for the conservation of the natural, cultural, social and economic benefits that their protected areas generate for Colombia and the world.
