About

PACHEDO is a local Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), registered by the National NGO Board with registration no. 9230. It however acquired the national NGO status in December 2015 with the certificate of registration awarded. This gives the organisation liberty to operate nationwide. The organisation operates in but not limited to the 10 districts of Northern and North Eastern Uganda. In the North, PACHEDO operates in the three districts of the Acholi sub-region, namely Gulu, Amuru and Nwoya. In the Lango sub-region, they operate in Lira, Kole and Alebtong districts; and in karamoja sub region PACHEDO operates in the districts of Moroto, Amudat, and Napak, the main offices are in Gulu and field coordination offices are based in Lira, Soroti and Moroto district.

PACHEDO was founded in 2007 by a board of community development workers, health workers and academicians with a broad range of international and local expertise and experience in the NGO sector as well as in academia. The organisation was established with the aim of supporting communities to live a dignified, healthy, and productive life, socio-economically empowered to innovatively meet and demand for their basic needs and rights, which is the ultimate goal of the organisation.

To contribute to community health, social protection and livelihood security through empowering local communities, civil society organisations and government support systems in impoverished, conflict and disaster affected areas.”
