Patna is the capital of Bihar, the most populous state of India. It is known for its rich cultural heritage. The present population of Patna city is more than 26 Lakh. Being an important service and trading centre, Patna continues to grow and attract large number of people to the city. The rapid growth of the city and the associated urban sprawl has accentuated the demand-supply mismatch amidst constrained public transport infrastructure.

To strengthen and argument the transport infrastructure of the city with a holistic multi-modal transport system, Government of Bihar has decided to implement Patna Metro Rail Project as an integrated mass public transport system that meets the mobility and accessibility needs of people of Patna. The DPR of Patna Metro Rail Project, approved by State Govt was submitted to the Urban Development and Housing Department Of Bihar Government 20.09.2018.
