Profonanpe is a private, non-profit organization specializing in efficiently raising and managing financial resources for the implementation of programs and projects that contribute to biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation and adaptation.
With more than 30 years of successful institutional work, Profonanpe has established itself as the most important private environmental fund in Peru. Since its founding, it has been characterized as an institution specialized in creating, developing, and implementing innovative processes in administrative and fund management, as well as participatory management and the involvement of private enterprise.
Profonanpe's experience has validated the fundamental aspects of its institutional design. Profonanpe's beginnings date back to the raising of seed capital, which was used both to provide institutional support and to finance conservation activities in protected natural areas. This design has also served to secure the government and its international allies' commitment of resources through the negotiation of debt-for-nature swaps. It is also the first organization of its kind to have a design adapted to the administration of trust funds.
