Pitsong Institute of Implementation Research (PIIR) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) established to inform and facilitate community-driven development in Lesotho and in other Africa countries. Our community-driven development (CDD) approach is based on the principles of local empowerment, participatory governance, demand-responsiveness, administrative autonomy, greater downward accountability, and enhanced local capacity.
Through our work, we advocate for access to information and appropriate capacity and financial support to local communities. We work to empower poor women and men, girls and boys to effectively organize themselves and identify their community priorities and address their development problems by working in partnership with local governments and other supportive institutions. We believe that CDD approaches and actions are important elements of an effective poverty reduction and sustainable development.
VISION
PIIR strives for a local governance system where communities are empowered and are championing their own development, working with and through effective local governments, effective civil society, effective local governance structures and a viable and widespread network of community based service providers.

Our Values
PIIR is committed to a transformation process, which fundamentally addresses socio-economic needs of the poor. We seek sustainable African solutions to African problems, while learning from best practice elsewhere, and so maintaining a strong base in our local area, Lesotho. We believe in shared management, so that all those working for the organisation have responsibilities. We contribute to the well-being of disadvantaged communities in Africa. We also strive for transparency and accountability within the organisation and require the same of our partners and clients.
