Plan International was born in Spain in 1937, promoted by the British journalist John Langdon-Davies and by the English volunteer Eric Muggeridge. In its beginnings it was called "Foster Parents Plan for Children in Spain" (Plan of Host Families for Children of Spain) and its objective was to help children who were orphaned during the Spanish Civil War.
