Plan International Switzerland
Plan International is a religiously and ideologically independent aid organization that is committed worldwide to the opportunities and rights of children: efficient, transparent, intelligent. For more than 80 years they have been working on ensuring that girls and boys can live a life free from poverty, violence and injustice. They actively involve children in over 70 countries in shaping the future.
These are their principles
Children deserve a world that respects them and their rights. In this world girls don't have to defend themselves, because equality is a matter of course. As a religiously and ideologically independent children's aid organization, this is their primary goal. Every day they get closer to this goal with their commitment. They place a special focus on promoting girls. Because they still suffer from discrimination in many places, they encourage and protect them more.
They involve children in their work
What do children need to be happy? When do children feel treated unfairly? And what ideas do children have for their own future? Nobody knows this better than the children themselves. They motivate them to talk about their needs, concerns and dreams and to stand up for their rights. Adults often fail to recognize children's concerns. They consistently involve children in their project work - from planning to implementation and review of project progress.
They support people
They don't just want to help, they want to support. There is a big difference between these similar sounding terms. Their goal is to support people through projects so that they can transition to a self-determined life free from poverty, discrimination and violence. They achieve these sustainable changes by planning and realizing the projects together with the local people. In this way, communities take responsibility for the development of their region and build on the success of the projects.
They bundle forces
They think globally, networked and future-oriented. They improve people's living conditions sustainably - even where the headlights of the media have long since disappeared. They are pooling their strengths to achieve these sustainable successes. They focus on cooperation with international and national non-governmental organizations, because together they are stronger.See more
