About

PNC and the PNC Foundation have long histories of strengthening and enriching the lives of our neighbors in communities in which we live and work. For decades, we have provided resources to seed ideas, foster development initiatives and encourage leadership in nonprofit organizations where imagination and determination are at work enhancing people's lives everyday.

To build on this commitment, PNC developed PNC Grow Up Great, a $350 million, multi-year, bilingual initiative that began in 2004 to help prepare children from birth to age 5 for success in school and life. As part of this initiative, the PNC Foundation has earmarked funds for grants to nonprofit organizations which work to directly improve children's school readiness by providing support in one of the following key areas: math, science, and the arts. By focusing our support in these critical areas, we hope to achieve greater results in school readiness, which will yield stronger, smarter and healthier children, families and communities.

The PNC Foundation's priority is to form partnerships with community-based nonprofit organizations within the markets PNC serves in order to enhance educational opportunities for children, particularly underserved pre-K children through our signature, PNC Grow Up Great program, and to promote the growth of targeted communities through economic development initiatives.

More than $72 million was invested in communities in 2013. The PNC Foundation forms partnerships with nonprofit organizations to advance mutual objectives driven by two priorities: (1) early childhood education; and (2) community and economic development.

Foundation grants awarded to worthy nonprofit organizations that primarily focus on:

> Education programs, particularly early education initiatives serving low-and moderate-income children (Grow Up Great initiative)

> Economic development

> Arts and culture

Partnerships are made with community-based nonprofit organizations in the PNC footprint.
