The Pontifical Javeriana University was founded and is run by the Society of Jesus. At this private Catholic and Pontifical University, which exercises its autonomy within the legal order and taking into account its relationship with the Holy See, with the Catholic Church in Colombia, and with the Society of Jesus, they profess the freedom of teaching, research, and expression, while they try to ensure that everyone participates thinking and acting, not that everyone thinks and acts in the same way, within the ideological pluralism and religious ecumenism that have a place in their cloisters. 

The University Identifies itself as an educational community, -integrated by professors, students, administrative personnel, and graduates-, which, based on shared values ​​and options, seeks to fulfill the institutional Mission. Their central objective is the establishment of a more civilized, cultured, and just society, inspired by the values ​​proclaimed by the Gospel.

The Pontificia Universidad Javeriana is a Catholic institution of higher education, founded and run by the Society of Jesus, committed to the educational principles and guidelines of the founding entity.

It exercises teaching, research, and service with excellence, as a university integrated into a country of regions, with a global and interdisciplinary perspective, and aims to:

  • - The comprehensive training of people who stand out for their high human, ethical, academic, professional quality and for their social responsibility; and,
  • - The creation and development of knowledge and culture in a critical and innovative perspective, for the achievement of a just, sustainable, inclusive, democratic, supportive society and respectful of human dignity.
