Promoting Rural Incomes through Support for Markets in Agriculture (PRISMA)
PRISMA is a multi-year program under the Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Rural Economic Development (AIP-Rural) which supports the Government of Indonesia’s development strategy to accelerate poverty reduction through inclusive economic growth.
PRISMA adopts a market systems development approach, designed to improve market efficiency and increase economic returns in selected value chains. By addressing the root causes of agriculture underperformance, it works to create systemic change which will sustain beyond the lifetime of the program.
PRISMA focuses on agriculture sectors that have strong growth potential and which are also a major source of income for a large number of Indonesia’s smallholder farming households.
Its team of experienced business consultants offer services in innovation management, market research, market mediation and management consulting to private companies and government, and shares investment where market entry risks are high.
To implement its pro-poor strategy, PRISMA partners with selected local and national government agencies, the private sector, business associations, non-profit associations and research institutions to improve competitiveness. Its goal is to achieve at least a 30% increase in the net incomes of 300,000 smallholder farming households in eastern Indonesia by December 2018. The program works in East Java, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, West Papua and Papua.
The second phase of the program is implemented from 2019 – 2023, aiming to benefit 1,000,000 smallholder farming households in eastern Indonesia. See more
