The Public Service Commission (PSC) is established under Section 7 (a) of the Service Commissions Act, Cap 259 of the Laws of Zambia. The Act empowers the Commission to act in the name of the President of the Republic of Zambia, regarding its operational procedures and to confer powers or assign duties on any officer or authority of the Government for the purpose of discharging its functions.
It is also a statutory body falling under the Office of the President as set out in the Government Gazette Notice No. 183 of 2012.
MANDATE
The Public Service Commission is both a constitutional and statutory body responsible for ensuring that appointments, promotions, discipline and separation of personnel in the Public Service is done in accordance with prescribed guidelines and procedures.
MISSION STATEMENT
To ensure integrity, equity and professionalism in the conduct of appointments, promotions, disciplinary control and separations in the Public Service in order to enhance delivery of quality service.
GOAL STATEMENT
To achieve professionalism in the management of human resources in the Public Service in order to ensure adherence of human resource policies, practices and procedures for quality service delivery.
