Background

Universitas Gadjah Mada Tourism Study Center or called PUSPAR UGM at the beginning of its birth was called the Tourism Research and Development Center of Gadjah Mada University. The history of the establishment of this institution is inseparable from the idealism of the leaders and the UGM Academic Community in the 1970s, namely to (1) increase the relevance of scientific disciplines for solving the actual problems faced by society and the State; (2) fostering and increasing joint activities ( concerted action ) of the scientific disciplines developed at Gadjah Mada University with a problem-oriented approach through interdisciplinary research ( problem oriented multi disciplinary research ).

In addition to supporting university policies towards research universities , PUSPAR UGM also develops research methodologies that can present new concepts and policy foundations in tourism development at the regional, national and international levels. Until now, PUSPAR-UGM is determined to build a reputation as a research institution that has superior and foremost competence in the field of tourism.

VISION

Being a center for reference studies in tourism research and development in Indonesia and is well known in Southeast Asia.

 

MISSION

  1. Conducting research and development of tourism in an interdisciplinary manner.
  2. Innovating methods & implementing tourism research results for the welfare of the community.
  3. Expanding networks of cooperation with stakeholders in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
  4. Improve research quality & number of publications through various communication media.
  5. Increase the dissemination and dissemination of research results by stakeholders

 

AIM

Making Puspar UGM as a  center of study of referral to perform :

  1. Quality research and able to answer the problem of tourism;
  2. Accountable, transparent, responsible and fair governance in order to encourage the effectiveness and efficiency of resource use;
  3. Fair, mutually beneficial and sustainable cooperation with partners; and
  4. Implementation of research results to improve community welfare.
